"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Spring Breaking it in Idaho

For the past 20 years or so, our family has gone to St. George for Spring Break. Our family nickname, the Trashers, came about because we invite ourselves to Kay and Ken's house and then our kids invite their friends and we pretty much "trash" the Hinton's. Kay and Ken are such wonderful hosts that we just love our Spring Breaks in St. George. Well, this year, Kay foiled our plans by being a good Grandma/Mom/Samaritan and going back and forth to Logan to help out Shonna and Blake while Shonna is on bed rest. So our plans had to change so this year we spent Spring Break in Idaho.  I have to admit, I got a lot done. I didn't teach piano lessons so that freed up all of my days, which was kind of fun.
I finished up some projects:
This old farmhouse window is now hanging in our bedroom
And I finished this baby quilt that I've been working on for over a year.
I decided I had better clean out my project room before Devin and family arrive.
(For those of you who don't know, Devin accepted a job with Zion's bank and they are moving to Boise!)
I went on a fun bike ride with my neighbors. We had a couple of days last week without rain!
.
On Thursday, Tom and I drove up to Sun Valley for the weekend. Tom got a groupon 2 for 1 deal to stay at the Tamarack Lodge in Ketchum.
We got there in time to go to dinner at the Sawtooth Club.
My chicken was delicious!
Friday morning we went to our favorite breakfast spot, the Kneadery.
Then it was off for some high mountain adventuring.
We drove up towards Stanley and cross country skied at Alturas Lake.
It was beautiful and not too cold.
Plus it wasn't snowing yet, so we had a little bit of blue sky.
I take terrible selfies
The cross country ski trails had been groomed but there was a couple of inches of new fallen snow on top.
It was very peaceful.
Friday night, our neighbors and friends, the Manwaring's drove up to Sun Valley to stay at their condo and joined us for dinner at the Burger Grill.
After dinner we went to the movie Noah. Ugh! Don't go...
Saturday morning, the Manwaring's had us over for breakfast.
Jed prepared delicious bacon and cheese omelets and muffins and toast.
Then we headed back up the mountain to one of the park and ski areas (there are tons in Sun Valley). We skied in a blizzard, but the new falling snow was beautiful and it really wasn't too cold, just wet.
Tom and I drove back to Boise on Saturday afternoon, just in time for the General Women's meeting.
It turned out to be a great spring break!
