"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

August starts out with a BANG or at least a BAND!

I got home from Girl's camp and on the following Monday night, our FHE group decided it was time to take a trip back up the mountain to see Starlight Mountain Theatre's production of Thoroughly Modern Millie.
We stopped for a picnic on the way up.
 We have such fun friends
A family in our stake has kids in the production.
It was fun to see them perform

The next night we went to an outdoor concert
The Redhead Express
They are kind of a blue grass band made up of sisters and family members.
Their grandfather, Gary Walker, is an old Caldwellite
It was held at the Scentsy ampitheater and it was such a pretty setting

On Friday, we headed back up to the mountains above Idaho City.
Jedd and Missy had reserved the Stargazer Yurt at Banner summit.
It seems like it's at the top of the world.
There are beautiful 360 degree views all around
We got up there Friday afternoon and after hauling our stuff up the mountain (you can't drive all the way up)
we got started making our dutch oven dinner.

We love this cute family and we especially love camping with them
Dutch oven whole wheat bread with honey butter.
YUM!
Tom's a dutch oven pro, we served pulled pork, Jedd's potatoes,
bread, watermelon and cobbler for dessert.
I love this progression of pictures of Clair and Sophie

It was so fun having all of us together

Tom and I slept in a tent,
Devin and his girls slept in a different tent,
and Taylor slept in the yurt with Missy and Jedd and family.
Thank goodness the Smith's had some extra blankets because we forgot a sleeping bag for Taylor.
Our trusty fire builders

Sarah drove up for the evening,
but left after dinner so she wouldn't have to sleep on the ground.
Can't blame the 9 month pregnant lady
We had such a beautiful sunset that night

Saturday morning, Devin fixed a delicious pancake breakfast and Taylor and Tom went on a mountain bike ride while we got our stuff all packed up.

We drove down to Kirkham hot springs and had a
good time soaking off all the dirt.
Not sure who that random kid is

We stopped for a picnic on our drive home
We love spending time in the mountains of Idaho and can't wait til our next campout with the Smith's.

I love your header picture of your grandkids - they are so cute! The picnic and play at Starlight Theatre looked so fun. I am excited to hear about Gary Walker's progeny being so talented! I will tell Hal - he and Randy Towery lived with Gary and Kathy when they were at BYU. The camping trip with the Smiths looks like fun with lots of yummy food! The Smiths are an awesome family! You are making so many wonderful memories with your family!
