"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Uncle Tom's Cabin

I am so far behind in my blogging, I hope I can remember all the fun we had at the cabin this year. The cabin is always a special place to visit, especially during the 4th of July and especially with our family.
I never tire of this beautiful view.
Tom and I drove to the cabin on Wednesday and brought Eva with us.
It was fun having some one on one time with her.

Beautiful full moon
On Thursday, Tom, Charlie, Eva and I drove into Yellowstone Park
We saw this lonely buffalo which of course stopped about 40 cars.
We had a beautiful picnic
Father and son

We loved this crazy van we saw
Tom has been wanting to swim in the Firehole river for a long time, so we finally made it. Eva just wished she had brought her swim suit.
Lots of other people had the same idea on this hot afternoon
The adventurous swimmer

When we got back from Yellowstone we met up with Missy and Jed and family.
Jed's parents have a cabin in Pinehaven too
so we love seeing them when we're at the cabin.
They were having so much fun swimming in the river
that Eva jumped right in to swim with them

Grandma and Grandpa Smith have 4 wheelers which
Eva thought were pretty awesome.
Especially with her cute 2nd cousins, Jared and Anders, chauffeuring her.
Taylor, Whitney, Devin, Sarah and Sophie arrived on Thursday, they spent some time helping Grandpa clear the trail down to the dock.
Taylor does love his machete

We had some fun canoe rides. Taylor is a great oarsman

Gotta love selfies with Taylor's cool selfie stick

Sophie loves Grandpa Charlie
On Friday we drove to Jackson Hole.
What a view

Can you tell we had a good time with the selfie stick?
We had hoped to do the Alpine Slide at SnowKing but it was closed for repairs.
We spent some time "bouldering" instead

Then had a fabulous picnic lunch
The famous antler arch

Sophie and Eva got to ride in the stage coach

On the way home, we stopped in Ashton for a delicious huckleberry shake

This little friend picked some beautiful wildflower bouquets for her Grandma
More beautiful pics of the view from the cabin

This is what happened once we got the kids to bed.
Who knew we had a family of card sharks?

On the 4th of July we drove into Ashton for the parade.
We love the small town parade

These two brought home a bucketful of candy
Devin and Taylor represented the US in their soccer jerseys

The parade goes down main street, then turns around and comes back, so during halftime, we walked around the Farmer's Market in the park
Taylor entertained the crowd with some juggling skills

There was more card playing on Saturday afternoon and some more yard work

We also floated the river.
It was so hot and the river felt great!

After a fabulous 4th of July barbecue, we drove back into Ashton for their Fireworks show
It's always fun to attend church in Island Park on 4th of July weekend.
There were like 2,000 people there.
After church, we stopped for some pics at Harriman State park

Here's what Eva and Sophie think about more picture taking
until you ask them to be models
Aunt Whitney is everyone's favorite

Swan family

Farewell little cabin in the woods
We can't wait until next time

What a great trip to such beautiful places! I love that you went to the Ashton city 4th parade - how fun! I also love all of your selfies - hmm... maybe we need a selfie stick. You did take a lot of great pictures of your family - I especially love the one of Charlie and Sophie. You have made lots of great family memories at that cabin over the years!
