We got home from the cabin on Sunday and I was leaving on a jet plane on Wednesday morning to fly to Denver, to help Sara get settled in their new home in Parker.
Nothing like a delicious sugar cookie from
Kneaders to put a smile on this girl's face.
Sara and I spent lots of time decorating her new home and made lots of trips to Hobby Lobby and Home Depot.
We got to eat out a few times.
We tried a midwestern restaurant called Culver's for dinner one night
Leah was very content to sit in the corner

We did take a few walks in their beautiful neighborhood and found
this scary surprise.
a nest of snakes sunning themselves in a bush right by the trail.
I also spotted this deer in the neighborhood one morning
They have a beautiful biking, hiking greenbelt that leads right to the HOA swimming pool, nope this isn't the swimming pool.
You can see the rocky mountains, off somewhere in the distance
Our big project for the week was refinishing this dresser.
Here it is without knobs
Sara bought the dresser last summer in Washington.
Her father in law sanded it and got the old paint all off
We stained it walnut and then painted it with chalk paint
and then antiqued it with sandpaper and wax and some more stain.
I think the finished product is amazing and matches
this beautiful print they bought in Amish country
They have a lovely new home with lots of kids to play with in the neighborhood
Here's to a wonderful new start in Colorado!
Good luck to Dr. Cardon and to this cute family.

So nice of you to help Sara move in, Joan! I'll bet she and their family loved having you with them! I love that refinished dresser - it is wonderful! And it does look beautiful with the Amish print. Decorating is so fun, once you're moved in and have stuff put away. Colorado must have lots of critters - I remember when Mindy and Jeff lived in Highland Ranch, when we went walking on the nature trail by their house, there were coyotes running across the trail. Yikes!
Aww, I like your post so much better! You did better at taking pictures. Can't wait to have you back to stay again!
You are a great mom to help with the move and the projects. Cardons live in such a beautiful place and their home looks so nice. That dresser turned out awesome - I love it with the Amish print! I hope Sara, Jonathan and their cute family will be wonderfully happy in their new home.
