"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

My Mom would be so proud!

Whitney has worked as an Instructional coach in the Murray School District for the past year.
As an Instructional coach she works with the teachers in the school and helps them with discipline problems, curriculum, and acts as an assistant principal. She has really enjoyed her job, but wanted to also  incorporate her musical talents into her job, so she volunteered to direct the early morning choir for the 3-6th grade students.  She practiced with them Tuesday and Thursday mornings and they performed in a Christmas Concert and a spring concert.
She did a great job with her choir.  The school district noticed her efforts and asked if she would oversee all the music teachers in the district. She met with the music teachers
once a month and gave them ideas.
Well, she decided to host a Choir festival in May as a culminating event for the year.
She asked each elementary school in the district to send one choir from their school to participate in a day of learning, listening, and singing at Murray High School.  Whitney coordinated with the Murray High School choir director and she arranged for each choir to sing the same song and she distributed the music so they could practice and be ready for the performance. She arranged for buses for all the schools and coordinated all the details.
Well, I was able to attend the performance and I couldn't have been prouder.
Each Elementary school choir performed their own song, including Whitney's, and then they all gathered on stage for the grand finale where all the choirs sang together including the High school choir. It was fabulous!!

After the performance, so many parents and school administrators came up to Whitney to thank her for her vision and bringing it all together.
I sat there watching her kids perform and thought "My Mom would be so proud". My Mom loved music and always wanted a concert pianist. Unfortunately both my parents died before they could hear Whitney play her classical music on the piano and play and sing her jazz music.
They would have been blown away.  Hopefully they are listening from heaven.
Thursday night Whitney and I had a delicious french dinner and then headed to Trolley Square for some delicious ice cream.

Friday morning before I drove back to Boise, Whitney and I went on a beautiful hike along the Wasatch front.

I'm so thankful Whitney lives so close (a five hour drive) and that she's willing to share her many talents. I love spending time with my kids.

That is great stuff Whitney's doing! I wish I could hsve heard that concert. The schools need more music and I am glad Whitney is making a difference where she lives! Both Mom and Dad are proud!
