"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Unexpected Guest

We had such a wonderful time with Sara and Lucy and bid them a sad farewell on Saturday afternoon. They flew from Boise to Seattle and then on to Tri-Cities. They were one of the last flights out of Seattle on Saturday afternoon but made it safely to the Cardon's. Jonathan on the other hand was delayed getting out of Philadelphia on Saturday morning and then missed his flight from Denver to Seattle, so had to be rebooked on a later flight. We got a call on Saturday night from Sara telling us that Jonathan was in Boise. Evidently he had boarded his flight in Denver and was on the runway when the Continental flight that slid off the runway, crashed. That delayed his flight even further. Their flight flew up to Seattle and circled around for a while and then the captain came on the intercom and told the passengers that they weren't able to land in Seattle but would divert to Boise to refuel and then head back to Denver. Jonathan knew that if he ended up back in Denver he might not make it to Yakima by Christmas, so he got off the plane in Boise. We had him stay with us Saturday and Sunday night and then he rented a car and had a snowy drive to Yakima on Monday. He still doesn't have his suitcase so hopefully it will make it to Yakima by Christmas. We are just thankful that Sara, Jon and Lucy are reunited and safely in Selah.
The weather here has been crazy. I don't remember the last time we had a white Christmas, but we definitely will this year. It has snowed everyday for the past week. Here are some pics:

Man, that was smart to get off in Boise. I hear many people were stuck in airports for the holidays. Shonna and Blake beat the O'Hare close down by only two hours! Ho! HO! HO!

We are so grateful that Jonathan ended up in Boise where he could be with family. Thank you so much for taking care of him. I'm sure it was hard on Jon, Sara and Lucy not have their plans turn out like they were suppose to. Nevertheless, we are very thankful that they were safely reunited on Monday. Thanks again to all you!

Yea for saving Jonathan from a night spent in the Denver airport!! I think flying in the winter gives me PTSD from my last nightmare in Detroit. I don't like snow that much.
