"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Friday the 13th!

We went down to Utah last Thursday to attend Whitney's Dixieland Band concert. (see blog) On Friday, Feb. 13, Tom decided to go skiing at Solitude and he had a wonderful day. My plan was to go to the temple, then pick Whitney up at 1:40 and we would go shopping and then meet Tom in Salt Lake in time for dinner. I usually go to the Provo temple when I'm in Provo, but Whitney talked me into going to the Mt. Timpanogas temple. I decided it would be fun to go since the only time I had been there was when Devin and Sarah got married there. I found my way there (it was foggy and the mountain was snow covered so I had a hard time seeing the temple on the hillside)and I went inside and put my coat on the coat rack, got into my temple clothing, then thoroughly enjoyed the endowment session in the temple. I finished my session and got changed and went to the coat rack to pick up my coat, but I couldn't find it. I assumed that maybe (since I had never been to that temple before) I had put it on a different coat rack so I asked a temple worker if there was another coat rack somewhere. She assured me that this was the only coat rack. So I searched again.. to no avail. The worst part of this Friday the 13th bad luck story is, that my car keys were in my coat so I couldn't get into my car where my cell phone/purse/etc. were. To make a long story short. After several temple workers tried to help me, they took me to the sweet temple matron, Sister Brown. I had explained to them that I was from Boise and that we had come to Provo to see our daughter's BYU performance and that my husband was up skiing and Whitney was in a class and I didn't really have anyone I could call to come rescue me in the temple. Sister Brown shepherded me around for an hour and a half as we tried to figure out either how to break into my car, call a locksmith to make me a new key, or she and her husband were going to drive me to Whitney's apartment. We kept walking through the temple looking for someone mistakenly wearing my coat in the cafeteria, on the temple grounds taking wedding photos, etc. Finally after an hour and a half my coat miraculously appeared on the coat rack. Someone must have finally realized that they had taken the wrong coat and they returned it! I was so thankful for an honest person and for the sweet temple workers who comforted a distraught temple patron on Friday the 13th!

WOW! What awesome blog posts! You have me in tears reading about your fun party with the Italians and Whitney's concert and your sweet temple story. If your coat should be safe anywhere, it should be the temple! Thank you SO much for sharing this sweet experience.

What a funny story. I guess it didn't really get stolen at the temple, but I guess that's why they have lockers after all. Next time you'll know to keep your keys with you.:) I'm glad you made it out of there!!

Oh dear. That is quite the story, and very fitting for that particular day. I guess it would be comforting to know that you WERE in the temple, and whomever took it would be an honest individual (hopefully) :). What nice temple workers. I'm sorry that you had to be stranded for so long, though. That is extremely stressful.
