"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Happy Valentine's Day with the Italians!

We so enjoyed our Special Olympics experience this past week! We went down to the Olympic plaza last Monday night and were lucky enough to run into our friends from Italy. It was fun seeing all the activities and displays they had at the plaza. Taylor and I also drove up to Bogus on Wednesday and watched our friends compete on the ski hill. It was a beautiful day and so fun to see and feel the excitement. On Friday, all of the Italians except the Alpine ski team flew back to Italy. We made plans to entertain the remaining Italians on Saturday. They came to Taylor's 1st District tournament basketball game. Capital won by beating Borah.
The Italians wanted a picture with the team. Then they went to Cabella's for a tour, then they shopped at the mall, and then they came to our house for a true Italian pizza party. We had over 30 people in our home for the big party! The 10 remaining athletes and coaches and then the other host families who had become friends throughout the week. It was such a fun party. We served two kinds of "zupa", Italian bread and veggies to dip, soda, and pizza. We danced, talked, and sang. It was so fun, the Italians would sing us a song and then we would sing them a song. What a wonderful memory. I think we all made lasting friendships!

Congratulations, Taylor! How wonderful for the Italians to share that and for you to host them in such a fun party. I would love to know what you sang and what they sang. What a treasured experience!

What an awesome experience!! I'm so jealous!! I think one thing I've learned from traveling and living "abroad" is that people are people no matter where you go.

Wow! What a fun week! I find it humorous that they spent time "touring" Cabela's. I recently went there for the first time as well, and I felt like I was in a different universe. They definitely know how to create their own world. That sounds like an incredible experience.

Joan - that was sooooooooo much fun! I'm still smiling. The sing-a-long was the best! She'll Be Coming Around the Mt" including the Italia Yippy-ti-i-o chorus after Nicola's solo verses! Or maybe watching Mama Mima Mikkie making the pizza. Or Emiliano dancing! Great experiences this last 10 days. And new friends.

I love it! Too bad they couldn't have waited 2 more weeks. Eva really wanted to try that pizza.
