"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

January Entertainment

Our primary forms of entertainment during the month of January consist of going to LOTS of basketball games, and going cross country skiing. We did both things this past weekend and had a wonderful time. We played Vallivue a week ago and it was so fun to have Pam, Roger, Jedd, Jared, Sam and Ellie come to the big game(Missy was in the hospital with new baby Anderson). Vallivue is one of the best teams in the SIC but we played them tough and only lost by 7 points. Taylor had a great game and scored 14 points, all in the second half. Ellie didn't care much for watching the basketball game, but loved watching the cheerleaders. After the game she got to hold "those things" as she called the pom poms. It was quite a thrill :) Capital played their cross town rival, Borah High on Friday night at Capital. The first time we played Borah, let's just say it wasn't our best showing. We got blown out by 20 points. Our team has done a lot of adjusting and maturing since their last meeting in December. This time, we played a much better game, we led at halftime and went on to win by a last second shot made from around the half court line. Taylor made some critical free throws in the last minutes of the game and scored 17 points in the win. The student section hasn't been very supportive over the past couple of months, but they turned out en mass to watch the Borah game. There were close to 200 students at the game and I know they helped Capital win. It was so fun to have a supporting crowd there for the BIG win!
Taylor's friend Charlie wore his "Charlie's angel" T-shirt to support Taylor and the team
Tom and I went cross country skiing on Saturday afternoon up in Garden Valley. We tried a new course with a few more hills than I'm used to. I had one bad fall and brought home a nice souvenir of a bruised back, but other than that we had a great time skiing, picnicing, and being together.!

Last night we played at Caldwell High School. It is always fun to go back to my alma mater. Poor Caldwell's basketball team hasn't had a conference win all season and as much as I like Caldwell, Capital didn't want to be their first win. Capital ended up winning by 9 points and Taylor scored 14 points. John and Cindy came to the game to support Taylor. It was so fun to be at the game with them!

Sorry to hear about your fall, but so excited to hear about two big wins for Taylor! I've always wanted to hold "those things" too, but cheerleader wasn't in the cards for me.

I especially like the picture of you and dad together-- you must have been holding the camera out. Awwww, cute!! Good job to Taylo, we're proud of him win or lose.

Looks like you've been having fun with all your friends! Wish we had some entertainment since all we do is get trapped in our house by the snow.
