Tom and I were so looking forward to a 3 day weekend. We had a camping trip planned for Friday and Saturday and Monday we planned to drive up to Cascade to golf at the Tamarack Golf Course. What we ended up with was a cold, wet and windy weekend. In spite of the weather, we tried to make the best of it. Saturday, even though the skies were threatening and it was only 40 degrees outside, we decided to head out to the desert. We drove out past Marsing into Oregon to Leslie Gulch in the Owyhee Desert. Tom had been camping there in April and he was anxious to take me on some of the desert hikes. There are some beautiful red rock formations

kind of like Bryce Canyon in southern Utah. We watched the thermometer on the car continue downwards as we drove out to the desert, but we perservered. We saw a herd of California Big horn sheep. You can see one on the very top of this peak.

We couldn't believe how many there were.

We drove to the Owyhee Reservoir

and then went on a hike.

We took our umbrellas because it wasn't too windy and we knew it would soon be raining. Because they were wet, the rocks were so colorful, red, green, and yellow.

In spite of the weather, it was a beautiful hike.

After our hike we ate our picnic in the car (rated a 7 because of the weather, food, scenery, and company were a 10). It was snowing by the time we left.

On our way back to civilization, we accomplished something from my bucket list. I don't know how many times I've wanted to climb to the top of Lizard Butte

in Marsing, but we've never taken the time to do it. Every year at Easter, a sunrise service is held at the top of Lizard Butte, in fact, my Mom went to the service one year. So to fulfil my wish, we stopped on the way home and climbed up to the top of Lizard Butte. It was a beautiful view!

Monday, instead of golfing, we went out for breakfast and worked on household projects, ran errands, and took a walk on the greenbelt. Our neighbor's, the Manwarings, invited us over for a barbecue that evening, so at least we got to have a barbecue to celebrate the 3 day weekend. It wasn't the weekend we envisioned, but we made the best of it.

Nice work making the best of some seriously awful weather you've been having. Looks like it's STILL rainy and cold this week too. What happened to global warming??
You definitely made a lemon aid weekend out of lemon weather! Beautiful pics. Cindy
I love all your pictures of nature and you and Tom etc. Looks like you turned it into a good weekend despite the weather!
