"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

MLK Weekend

Whitney, who graduated from BYU in December and is now an employed Elementary school PE teacher, heard a friend was driving home to Boise for the long weekend so she and her roommate Lauren hitched a ride. It was so fun having them home. We have been hosting Whitney's friend "Trex" (his real name is Taylor, but Whitney met him her freshman year and they named him T-Rex and the name has stuck)has been living with us the past week. He also graduated from BYU and got a job at Micron and is staying with us while he searches for an apartment. Whitney and Lauren were able to entertain him this weekend. They played lots of games and went apartment hunting.
Tom and I drove over to the Idaho Center Indoor Track in Nampa on Saturday and watched Katie Palmer (Sarah P's sister) who runs track for BYU compete in a regional track meet. Teams from Oregon, Nevada Reno, NNU, BSU, Utep and BYU competed. It was so fun cheering Katie on and seeing Darlene and Craig Palmer. Katie won the mile run with a time of 4 min. 48 seconds. We think she is pretty amazing. We also watched her compete in the 4x400 relay. The BYU team took second to Oregon.
Trex turned 25 on Sunday so we celebrated with a birthday cake. We also had Grandma and Grandpa Charlie over for Sunday dinner and then we held our BYU Alumni board meeting at our house. It was a busy Sunday.
Since there is no snow in the mountains, we spent Monday at home running errands and digging through piles. Not exactly the way we usually spend MLK weekend. Oh well, we hear a big storm is on its way and will dump lots of snow in the mountains.

That was so sweet of you both to spend your Saturday going to the meet. It know it really meant a lot to my family (and me!) that you were there. Katie loved having the Morris cheering section behind her!

Sounds like a great weekend to me. Katie is amazing. I think an 8 minute mile is really something to brag about.:)
