"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Oh What do you do in the Summertime?
We have had such a fun July. We LOVED having Sara, Zach and Lucy stay with us for a couple of weeks. To answer the question, oh what do you do in the summertime?
We definitely "swam in the pool to keep ourselves cool". July has been an extra hot month in Boise with 9 days, so far, of 100 or above. Zach and especially Lucy have turned into little fish.
We've also eaten our share of frozen yogurt and shaved ice.
We celebrated Sara's birthday with a delicious, chocolate mousse and toffee birthday cake.
Of course we took a trip up to the mountains to camp. We had hoped to camp the weekend after the 4th of July but decided to wait and go midweek and avoid the crowds. We found a great campsite up along the Middle Fork of the Payette River where I used to go camping with my Dad.
We had a yummy picnic
and then went to the Starlight Mountain Theater's production of Cinderella.
Lucy LOVED it, especially meeting Cinderella, the prince
and the wicked step sisters after the show.
We had some unruly neighbors at the campsite next to us, but regardless, the next morning we had a delicious mountain man breakfast complete with hot chocolate.
I think Lucy and Zachy really like camping,
especially s'mores
and roasted hot dogs.
Before the Cardon's left for Washington, we visited Grandma and Grandpa Charlie.
Lucy loves Grandma Charlie's beautiful jewelry
and Zachy loves playing cars with Grandpa Charlie.
Sara and I had to eat lunch at Sah wah dee, a delicious Thai restaurant in Meridian
and no visit to Boise is complete without a trip to Krispy Kreme
Zachy helped me make cupcakes for my neighbor's birthday
I drove Sara and kids to Le Grande, Oregon to meet Grandma and Grandpa Cardon and on the way we stopped at the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center. The kids really enjoyed learning about the pioneers,
but the buffalo was a little too up close and personal for Lucy.
Thanks Sara, Zach and Lucy for all the great summer memories!

Awwww, that was the funnest summer trip ever. I love the crazed look in Zach's eye as he looks at that birthday cake! You know how I know it was really hot in Boise? I look SO swollen in every picture. Yuck.
Haha. Those kids are adorable. I love seeing the yummy cakes and cupcakes. It looks like you had a great time. I'm excited for my turn!
