"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Visitors from France!
At the end of June a family that Devin knew when he served his mission in Paris, came to Boise. Michel Cadin was baptized by our friend and neighbor, Tom Petty. Brother Petty was so excited back in 1999 when Devin received his mission call to Paris, France because Brother Petty had served his mission there in the late 1960's. First thing Brother Petty told Devin was that he needed to look for Michel Cadin because Brother Petty had lost touch with him. In what was one of Heavenly Father's tender mercies, Devin was called to serve in Evry (a suburb of Paris) and guess who was in that ward? The Michel Cadin family. They hosted the missionaries for dinner many times and even hosted Devin on Christmas Day in 2000.
We were blessed to meet the Cadin family when we went to France and picked Devin up in 2001. Michel now serves as a counselor in the Paris, France mission presidency. Brother Petty was able to reconnect with Michel Cadin and after many years, the Cadin's were able to come to the US and visit. They spent a couple of days with the Petty's, so I invited them to come swimming. These two girls, Emma and Yona were just 18 months and 3 years old back in 2000 . Now they are 13 and 14.

The Bullock family in our ward (Doug also speaks French and served a mission in Geneva, Switzerland) hosted FHE for all the French speaking returned missionaries and friends in the ward.
I spent Tuesday afternoon with Neia. I took her shopping. She had never been to a Walmart, Target, etc. We bought groceries and she showed me how to cook a delicious French/Brazilian dinner.
We had Quiche Lorraine and green salad
and Stroganoff with rice and Brazilian limeade.
and of course crepes.
The food was delicious and it was so fun reconnecting with our French friends. Now we can't wait to go to France and spend some time with the Cadin's. The gospel truly makes it a small world.

I didn't know you had French guests. How fun! I remember this family and the stories about them. Sometimes don't you think we were all connected in heaven and we're simply renewing those ties on earth?
I like the picture at the top of your blog. That's so cute.
How cool is that, Joan! They look like such a nice family and the food looks yummy! That guy knows how to flip a crepe! I'll bet Devin will love seeing and hearing about all of this!
Oops, that girl knows how to flip a crepe! The Cadins look like people you'd like to know.
What a fun day!! The Cadin's were so nice to us when we went to visit. I wish we could have spent more time with them.
Small world indeed. They are a wonderful family, one of those foundational families that the Church needs more of in France. I wish I could have been there flippin' crepes with everybody.
P.S. Whenever this return trip to France happens, you do plan to extend an invitation to me right?!? I'm pretty sure you're gonna need an experienced tour guide.
