"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

May means Cinco de Mayo and Mother's Day!!!

It has been a while since I've posted to our blog. I guess that means that we are either really busy, or really boring. Unfortunately I think it is the latter. April and May at the Morris home have been filled with lots of work, and paying taxes but we have worked in a little bit of fun here and there.
I finally took time to paint Whitney's bedroom. It has been on my "to do" list since before she got home from her mission, but I finally got it done. I added a "faux headboard" and think it turned out great! Unfortunately I didn't take a "before" picture so you could see the difference.

Missy and Jedd invited us over for a "Cinco de Mayo" party at the beginning of May.
Missy made yummy "Cafe Rio" barbacoa pork burritos/salad and pina coladas,
Cindy and Carina brought appetizers and chips and salsa,
and I brought "mock" fried ice cream. It was all delicious.
I'm just sad I forgot to take a picture of the other food.
We had FHE afterwards and then played some games. We think it is pretty ironic that our annual Gabrielsen family parties Octoberfest, King Cake Party, and now Cinco de Mayo are based around "drinking" holidays.
Oh well, we make our own fun!
Tom took me out to dinner for Mother's Day to my favorite restaurant, Barbacoa. What a treat!!!

We had delicious cheesy Fundido with chips for our appetizer and then
steak for dinner. WOW, look at all that food.
We actually got three meals out of it.

A fun surprise was that Food Network "Chopped" judge Maneet Chauhan was in Boise filming her new Food Network show and she was at Barbacoa that night, so I got to see her.
I guess I'm famous now ;)

 At the entrance to Barbacoa.
Whitney and her roommate Lauren came home for Mother's Day weekend.
It was so fun having them home! If Whitney is home, it means Trex is also home. He spends every minute with his long lost friends. We went to the Boise Farmer's Market on Saturday morning, then Whitney and Tom went car shopping while I planted flowers on Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday, Trex, Whitney and Lauren made me a delicious "Indian food" Mother's Day dinner.
Whitney made Chicken Tika masala and jasmine rice and naan, and Trex made a yummy
mango lassi.
Lauren made a chocolate souffle with vanilla sauce for dessert! Yum!

Tom picked me some beautiful white lilacs and one of the missionaries serving in our ward is from Singapore.  He folded these flowers and I helped him make them into a lei.  He sent one to his Mom and gave the other one to me. Isn't it beautiful?
The highlight of Mother's Day was getting to talk to Elder Morris. He sounded GREAT!!!
He is "on fire" with the light of the gospel and wants to share it with everyone.
We are so excited to see him in two months!
It was a wonderful weekend!
