BYU now plays BSU every year in football and the game was in Boise this year. Even though we are no longer the chapter chairs we are still on the Boise chapter board so we helped with the Fireside on Thursday night and then the tailgate party on Friday.
The Fireside on Thursday was great. I got to be the organist and so I played prelude for an hour and then the opening hymn.
It was so fun sitting on the stand with all that priesthood power.
Some of the players and Coach Mendenhall spoke and then they had a question and answer session hosted by Devin Mahina.
The stake center where we held the event was full and we broadcast the fireside to 15 other stake centers across southwestern Idaho.
It was a fantastic!
Each of the football player speakers volunteers to speak at the fireside and each had an interesting and inspiring story
Kevin O'Mary the long snapper
Remington Peck, defensive line
Terenn Houk, wide receiver and a nonmember
If you look really closely in the upper right hand corner you can see my little head sitting on the stand
Christian Stewart, quarterback, bore his testimony in Japanese
This special musical number "Brightly Beams our Father's Mercy/I Need thee Every Hour" was acapella and awesome!
The team sang "Armies of Helaman" accompanied by Paul Lisike on the piano.
This sister was celebrating her 90th birthday. Her husband played for BYU back in the 1940's and she wanted to shake Bronco's hand

On Friday morning, my neighbor invited me to a brunch for the BYU cheer squad. Her niece is a cheerleader and she stayed at the Manwaring's home.
I didn't make it to the brunch so the cheersquad came to my house instead.
It was pretty cool to have Cosmo on my front doorstep.
They sang the fastest version of the fight song that I have ever heard.
On Friday afternoon we set up the for the tailgate at the
BSU-YSA stake center parking lot.
Tom handed out the BYU mint brownies that went with the Costa Vida meals.
My friend Cosmo!
Cute BYU cheerleaders with Sophie
Eva even got to do a stunt with the cheerleaders
The tailgate party wasn't quite as well attended as 2 years ago, partly because BYU was on a losing streak. I think those that came had a good time!
The game on the other hand was not so good.
Here's hoping next year we have a better showing and can beat the Broncos!
On Saturday, Tom took me on a drive up to Garden Valley to see the fall leaves.
Of course we had to have a picnic
It was a beautiful day and drive.
I love fall in Idaho!

Yes, BYU IS on a losing streak, but you gotta say a winning streak when you see them at that fireside. They are winners! How fun to get to be part of that! I love that your granddaughters got to be cheerleaders, too.
I think you do bleed blue! How fun to be a part of all the festivities and to include your family! I have decided fall is the best season - your pictures are beautiful! I want to hear you play the organ!
I'm glad they let me hand out the mint brownies. I ate as many as I handed out. Not a bad gig.
That was my comment about the brownies. I hate it when I use Joan's computer and it thinks I'm Joan.
