"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

November Wrap Up

We got home from St. Kitt's and the next weekend our Young men and Young women were involved in a big apple fundraiser. On Saturday morning we met at the church at 8 am and boxed up 2000 lbs of apples. These YW are pretty amazing on a cold Saturday morning.

Those who had pre-ordered apples drove to the church between 10-1 and we collected their money and handed out the apples.
It was a very successful fundraiser, so now we have money to go to Girl's camp.
Sophie and I went to see a fun movie, the BFG, during November.
Check it out if you haven't seen it.
Here's a pic from one of my November, Friday morning hikes.
The white building in the distance is the new Meridian temple.
I got invited to the Hidden Springs Elementary Kindergarten Thanksgiving feast.
It was so well planned.
They had all the parents at the game stations, and the kindergartners rotated through the games.

After the games, it was time to feast.
Each kindergartner either wore an Indian vest or a Pilgrim hat.
Sophie didn't like hers too much.
Then they went through the Thanksgiving buffet line, with foods brought from home,
and ate their feast.  They had each made their own place mat.
It was really fun.

Tommy even got in on the action with his own little feast.

I love this little Kindergarten girl.
Sophie and Eva came over before Thanksgiving to do a Thanksgiving craft.
We made oreo cookie turkeys.
It has kind of become a tradition.

Tom and I did something out of the ordinary in November.
We went out to breakfast on Saturday morning.
Tom had bought a Group On coupon to a coffee/breakfast cafe in Meridian.
We split the eggs benedict.
It was delicious!
Later that day we went to the 5A state championship football game.
The game was played at Bronco stadium.
Capital played Mountain View High School in Meridian.
Devin and Eva and Sophie joined us at the game to cheer on Capital.
The first half was pretty evenly matched, but in the 3rd quarter Mountain View busted out a huge lead and went on to win the state championship game.

Taylor came home for the Thanksgiving break but ended up working at his Boise internship job on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
I met Devin, Taylor and Tom for lunch at a pizza place.
The night before Thanksgiving we headed up to Idaho City and ate dinner at Trudy's diner.
We had good old Idaho finger steaks and we all shared a delicious piece of chocolate cream pie.
Afterwards we went to the Springs, which is an awesome hot springs that has been renovated into a spa like atmosphere.
Sarah's Mom and Dad were in town so Craig joined is in this truly Idaho outing.

Thanksgiving morning, Devin, Tom and Taylor headed over to Capital for the annual neighborhood Turkey bowl game.

No one got injured which is a Thanksgiving miracle.

Our Thanksgiving feast later that day was marvelous!

The kids seemed to enjoy their own table.
Yum, pumpkin, banana cream and apple pie!
We ended up going on a walk on the greenbelt to burn off some of the calories.
I made this cute quilt for Eva's baptism in September, and finally got it finished in November.
Thanksgiving weekend I got my house all decorated for Christmas.
The nativity collection
and snowmen collection
Last but not least we got to celebrate this guy's 61st birthday!
Yay for Tom, yay for mud pie!
Next up, the crazy month of December.
PS, one more fun thing we did to celebrate Tom's birthday was go to the Broadway musical "Beautiful" about the life of composer/musician Carole King.
It was an awesome show!
