"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Farewell Sister Morris

I've been a "weepy" mess the last two days but decided it was time to blog about Whitney's last day in Boise and then departure to the MTC.
Tuesday, Tom took Whitney and I to lunch. Whitney got to pick the restaurant and she chose Chinese food. There is a Chinese food restaurant close to where Tom's new office is so we went there. They had a pretty good lunch buffet. I thought it was ironic that Whitney got this fortune in her fortune cookie "You would do well to work as a team in the coming week" (she'll need lots of teamwork living with a new companion). I got the fortune "Travelling to the south will bring you unexpected happiness". I couldn't decide if I got Whitney's fortune (she was headed south to the MTC) or that mine should have said north instead of south, since we are headed on an Alaska cruise in a few days. Anyway, I thought those fortunes were fortuitous. Tuesday night Whitney got set apart by the stake president. He gave her a beautiful blessing and promised her all the things I needed to hear.
We came home and then Tom gave Whitney and I "father's" blessings. What a blessing to have a worthy priesthood holder in our home. Afterwards, we went to TCBY for treats.
After a sleepless night, we got up early and took Whitney to the Boise airport where she flew to Salt Lake to be picked up by her friends.
They had time to take Whitney to lunch at Tucahno's before depositing her at the MTC at 12:30. Whitney called right before going in and sounded very happy. We found out her departure date for Russia is September 28. So, she has a very busy 10 weeks learning Russian. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers, and her "weepy" mother". :)

Oh! That last picture of Whitney with tears in her eyes but a smile on her face at the airport is SO beautiful!! She looks so ready to "go and do" like we've been teaching Lucy about Nephi, and what a GREAT example she is to all of us and her little nieces and nephews. I'm so proud of both of you!! She will come home a changed woman.:)

The Washington Cardons have already started including Sis. Morris in their daily prayers. She will be an awesome missionary, and we will be looking forward to hearing her adventures in the Mission field. God bless you Sis. Morris.

JOAN,

Hi, this is Katie!! You know, Whitney's old/favorite roommate. Anyway, I have some fantastic pictures from us dropping Whitney off at the MTC. If you'd like them, I'll gladly email them to you! The problem is that I don't HAVE your email address! So if you email me (katienibley@gmail.com) I'll send the pictures along to you...and maybe you can even post them on here! Anyway, I hope everything's good in Boise and you're not missing Whitney too much. Ya know, I live right across the street from her so if you want me to sneak into the MTC and kidnap her, I will. Just give me the word.

We're so sad, too. I'm just happy Whitney is going to be where the Lord needs her. She is going to be an amazing missionary.

Erica saw Whitney at the MTC, but with a ban on hugs and handshakes because of the flu couldn't do anything except wave and say "hi."

Whitney will be an outstanding missionary!
