Patty and Hal reported their mission in their Salem, Utah ward on Sunday. Both their talks were just what I needed to hear to get me ready to be able to send my daughter to Russia. Patty spoke about the miracles, growth and change that occur in a missionaries' life. After Patty spoke, they invited all the Russian speaking missionaries to come to the front to sing "Called to Serve" in Russian. Over 30 missionaries, Elders, Sisters and couples, filled the front of the room. It was so great! Hal spoke about the light the missionaries brought to Russia and told some faith promoting stories about some of the people who accepted the gospel. So many friends and family came to hear Patty and Hal's testimonies. Uncle Al and Aunt Grace and my cousin Evan and his wife Teresa, Aunt Nedra and Erik and Marcie Bedke and three of their children, Patty's best friends from high school, Lois Burrup and her family and Nancy Garner, all the Gabrielsen and Mickelsen siblings and many other family, friends and missionaries. It was so great seeing everyone. After church Evan and Kelly had everyone up to their home for dinner. Patty had prepared American tacoes and they fed over 130 people. It was amazing. Evan and Kelly's house is beautiful and they were so nice to open it up to all of us. It was another of Heavenly Father's tender mercies that Whitney and I got to hear such sweet testimonies right before she entered the MTC.
"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

It was a wonderful meeting! Whitney is just what Russia needs!
Great recap! I left with warm feelings of family and friends and with my testimony strengthened. I feel so blessed!
Wow!! It looks like Evan and Kelly have such an amazing home-- and how wonderful that Patty and Hal are back!! What perfect timing just before Whitney leaves to get her all pumped up.
Oh, how I wish I could have been there. Thank heavens for such a sweet tender mercy. Whitney will be such a fabulous missionary. We are praying for both of you. We love you!
What a wonderful weekend! I wish we could have been there. The reunion sounds like it was so much fun and I would have loved to hear Patty and Hal speak. One of these days I'll get a chance to meet Patty.
Wish we could have been there. Did Patty like her book?
It was such a fun event. It was great to see you guys and I am so lucky and grateful for the warm welcome your family always gives me.
It was such a strengthening and spiritual weekend!
What perfect timing for Whitney to get to hear their report right before she goes. I can't believe 130 people, that's crazy.
