"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Whirlwind Weekend

Last Thursday night, we got free tickets to the BSU vs. Utah State basketball game, so we went down to Taco Bell arena with some friends to watch the BIG game. I had to represent all my Aggie relatives so I mostly cheered for the Aggies, and they won pretty easily.
On Friday, after much deliberation and trying to figure out schedules, we decided we needed to attend Uncle Al's viewing. Uncle John and Aunt Cindy picked us up at 1 pm and we headed to Ogden. It was an enjoyable drive with good roads and great conversation so the drive down went quickly. The viewing was so nice with lots of friends and family there. We loved seeing our Gabrielsen cousins and Aunt Grace, Uncle Ron and Aunt Gary, and Aunt Nedra. All the Gabrielsen cousins were in attendance except for a cousin that lives in Indiana. It is amazing the feeling of strength I get from being with my family. Our family ties have endured time and distance well. I'm sure my Grandpa and Grandma Gabrielsen were looking down on the proceedings with a happy heart knowing that all their posterity were there supporting each other. We stayed for the family prayer and the closing of the casket and then all the Lyman Gabrielsen, Jr. family went out to get a hamburger.
We had so much fun reconnecting and planning our next family get together, then John,Cindy, Tom and I piled in the truck and headed back to Idaho. We arrived home approximately 12 hours from when we had left at 1:30 am. Thank you John and Cindy for driving us to Utah. We were so glad we made the effort to go to Utah and so enjoyed the whirlwhind family reunion.

That's awesome that so many of your cousins were able to go. Devin says, "take that, Palmers." :)

It's amazing that 19 out of 20 cousins were there. You come from amazing stock!

Go Aggies! Thanks for representing us Joan. ;)

And I also can't believe that almost all of the cousins were there.

I love your description of the strength that we draw from each other. The Lord knew what he was doing when he created families!
