"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

State Tennis Tournament

Last Friday and Saturday Taylor participated in the state tennis tournament. He and Reed had an easy first match win over Lewiston 6-0, 6-0, but then they had to face Borah who they beat last weekend in the District tournament. Capital played kind of flat footed and got beat 4-6, 5-7. There were some controversial calls, but all in all Capital just didn't play very well. That put us in the Consolation bracket and we had to work our way back through four more matches to get 3rd place. We played a good Borah 2 team and won 6-4, 7-5, then we beat Timberline 6-0, 6-1. Saturday morning before the rain/sleet came we played Centennial and beat them 6-2, 6-2. That put us in the consolation championship match against Borah again. We got to play on the indoor courts at the Boise Swim and Racket club. There were lots of fans and Capital played fantastic and won 6-4, 6-2, to take 3rd place in the state tournament. Unfortunately we never got to play Idaho Falls or Boise who played for the state title. Boise won for the second straight year. It was so fun having Devin fly across the country to support Taylor in his State tournament. He got to see him play lots of matches and he was a great support :)

Oh well, there is always next year . . . Oh wait, that is only true for the Cubs. Way to go Taylor, your 4 appearances in the state tournament made us proud. Remember your first trip as a freshman? Just happy to be there, wondering if you would ever be good enough to actually win a match at state. And now look at you, all bummed out because you "only" got third. You've come a long way, little guy.
