"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Farewell Elder Morris

In honor of Taylor's departure into the mission field, we had a party the Saturday night before he spoke in church. We had lots of yummy food, Sara made Thai lettuce wraps, Sarah P made two types of bruschetta, chips and homemade salsa and guacamole, vegetables and dips, but the star of the show were the "pina colada" cupcakes Whitney made.
We were going for a "Caribbean theme" since Taylor is headed to the Dominican Republic. Lots of friends and family came to support Taylor. It was so nice for him to have time to talk to and receive advice from all his supporters :)
On Sunday, Taylor gave a wonderful talk on obedience in Sacrament meeting. He was "set apart" as a missionary right after Sacrament meeting. What a treat to have Patty and Hal, Missy and Jedd and family, Aaron and Carina and family and Charlie and Lucille and of course our whole family there for the "setting apart". After church we had a family dinner. We did better with the Dominican Republic theme for our dinner. We served pork tacos with all the fixings, coconut rice and beans, chips and salsa, and for dessert Taylor's favorite chocolate cake.

After dinner Hal taught Taylor some missionary magic tricks
and we coerced Whitney into entertaining us on the piano. Lucy and Elle also entertained the crowd with their dancing skills. Then it was time to start saying "Goodbye".
Thanks so much for coming Patty and Hal!
After everyone left, Missy took our family picture and some missionary pictures of Taylor for his plaque

and then we had the long awaited Grandpa Tom Tom fire complete with roasted marshmallows and a fireworks show (using fireworks Tom found up in a closet at the cabin from the 1960's)
Then it was time for bed...

Devin, Whitney, Sarah P and the kids all left on Monday. Taylor and I spent the next two days getting him all packed up and then we headed down to Provo with Sara and her kids. Stopping for Taylor's last hamburger for a while..
On Wednesday before we dropped him at the MTC we went to lunch at Zupa's, then it was pictures out in front of the MTC,
then drive-by and drop them off at the curb. Farewell Elder Morris, you will be a fantastic missionary!!!
